Mason has been sick for a week now. Cold symptoms and he had a temp last Tuesday. There was RSV going around the daycare and so I took him to the doctor to get checked out Wednesday. No RSV, just a cold and fluid in the left ear, and a temp. So over the weekend the temp dropped until yesterday. Got a call from the daycare that Mason had a temp of 102.9. Got him home, called the doctor. They called in an antibiotic because I noticed he was pulling his ears and holding his head.
We gave him acetaminophen every 4 hours, but at 9pm last night his temp jumped to 104.5! I called the after hours nurse and we took him to the ER. Thanks to a dose of ibuprofen his temp had dropped to 100 and they looked at us like we were nuts. Regardless, he has an infection in his right ear and still has the dang cold that is causing him to have trouble breathing through his nose.
I am thankful we do cloth diaper though, because through all of him not feeling well, we haven't needed to go make an emergency run to the store for diapers. We just have to load the wash machine! Plus when he has had some messy diapers (trust me, they have been bad), we haven't had any leaks in our Rumparooz. We've had a few that if he was in disposables, it would have escaped. I've even had him here in the house in just a diaper because of the fever (and what baby doesn't look cute in a cloth diaper).
Anyway, with a load in the wash machine now, we are secluded for another day. I'm very thankful for this since the temperature outside is -2 degrees (windchill of -19).
